Three-check
Standard chess with a second way to win: give check three times and the game is yours at once.
What is different here
Everything moves as it always has. The only addition is a counter for each player. Every time you put the enemy king in check, your counter goes up, and the third one ends the game in your favour immediately.
That turns chess inside out. A check that would be a pointless nuisance in the standard game is now a third of a win, and the safety of your own king matters far more than material.
Checkmate still wins on the spot, so the two paths run side by side. Most games are decided by the counter.

- A single move gives one check even if two men are attacking the king.
- Guarding the squares around your own king is worth more than an extra pawn.
